Here is a library of all the craft tutorials I've posted in this blog, gathered into one place for easier navigation. This tutorial covers the creation of a very simple gem tree for beginners. These ultra colourful color pencil candleholders (it's in the name, isn't it :D) are easy and great to make as a home decoration or as a gift to a dear friend - they are sure to brighten anyone's day! This tutorial covers how to make these adorable miniature old books from polymer clay, and you only need a basic set of tools for polymer clay. Celtic knots are optional, creative mindset - mandatory.

Allow upma to rest for 5 mins. 1. Clean and dry roast half cup rawa on a low to medium heat until it turns crunchy. Keep stirring to prevent discoloring. 2. When it is crunchy transfer it to a wide bowl and set aside to cool. 3. Add 1 tbsp oil to the same pan and heat it.

Add ¼ to ½ tsp each of mustard and cumin. 1 tsp each of urad dal and chana dal, cashews as desired. 4. Saute on a medium heat until golden. 5. Add handful of thinly sliced onions, 1 slit green chili and a sprig of curry leaves. You can also add ½ tsp of finely chopped ginger.

6. Saute just for 2 mins or until you begin to smell the onions and curry leaves. 7. Add 1 ¼ to 1½ cups water and bring it to a boil. When we make upma in small quantities, it usually absorbs up to 3 times the quantity of rava. When you make in large quantity, it can be reduced to 2 ½ times. Since i used ½ cup rava, i used 1 & ½ cups water.

The texture turns out to be fluffy and not sticky or mushy when cooled down. 8. Add salt and stir. Taste to check the salt before the water becomes too hot. 9. When the water begins to boil, adjust the flame to medium heat. Pour the rava in a stream with one hand and constantly stir it in the water with the other hand. This is done to prevent any lumps.

10. Quickly stir and check for any lumps. Break up if any. Be cautious at this moment, as it begins to splash. 11. Cover and lower the flame. 12. After 1 to 2 mins, open and stir the upma. You can also add fresh grated coconut if you like. 13. Switch off and keep the pan covered for about 5 mins. You can add your favorite toppings like lemon juice, podi or ghee.

I made this beautiful white slipcover last weekend. And by “I” I mean, my friend in real life, Kristi, the slipcover whisperer from Pink and Polka Dot. She is a self taught slip cover queen. And also, the title of this post is a lie. I am not going to be telling you how to make the slipcovers, but I can tell you where to find out how to make them. It’s easier than you might think. Here we all are Tiny Twig (Hayley), The Nester, Kristi and Edie. 12 thrifty wing back chair.

I know it’s hard to tell because of my mad photo shopping skilz but Edie wasn’t actually able to make it for the weekend. So I just snuck in a photo of her to make it look like she was here. We so missed her. 50 worth of white canvas or duck or something like that.

I just asked my fabriteer what people use for white slipcovers. They can also tell you how many yards to get for your item. Then you need to wash it in hot water and dry it so it shrinks before you sew it. Did you hear that, It’s pretty much the MOST important step. For the love of slipcovers, PREWASH YOUR FABRIC OR ELSE. Kristi commented on the fact that I should have found a curvier chair for my first slipcover.

I think she was being sarcastic. I am not even going to try to tell you what we are doing in every photo. Not because it’s hard or impossible to remember but because Kristi has already done the hard work of creating an ebook so the world can know her secrets. Basically we cut pieces of fabric the shape of the chair and pinned it all together, I couldn’t believe how easy it was once we got the hang of it. Doesn’t it look like something out of the Curious Sofa’s Halloween Extravaganza,
