However, sometimes you just feel like making a spring themed card without a specific occasion in mind.

There are lots of great themes and messages that you can use any time during the season. Alternatively, use these themes for other specific occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, baby showers, and sending thank yous, that occur throughout the spring. Please respect artist copyrights. Unless it is indicated otherwise, all ideas and tutorials that I've included here are for personal use only. If you're interested in selling your creations, contact the artists directly to work out agreements. Thank you and happy creating!

This card has so much great texture and detail with the buttons, yarn, zig zag sewing, lace, rhinestones, and varying patterned papers. Even including one or two of these details in one of your cards will give it so much character. Of course the butterflies are a classic spring choice, too. I love what she did here with the different colors for each one and yarn antennae. There are lots of great spring color combinations that you can use for this type of design. This is another card with great texture. Creating a flower with multiple layers of paper, an embellishment detail (charm, button, rhinestone, etc.), and/or a ribbon detail (such as the great polka dot ribbon here) will add so much to your card. Building a single, detailed flower is all you need to make a great mini card or gift tag. If you've read any of my Easter articles, you know how much I love chicks. They're perfect for general spring cards as well as Easter cards. You can create chicks with just about any kind of paper or fabric.

There are some great chick stamps and stickers out there, too. Consider adding dimension with wings in a different paper or fabric or with a 3D googly eye. The more I learn about making greeting cards, the more methods I acquire for creating flowers. So many of these ideas are so easy and so beautiful. These yarn flowers are no exception. The blog authors here do a great job explaining how versatile these flower designs are for so many different types of spring cards.

Although this tutorial doesn't include any templates, I have provided a link below for just one of the many available online. In addition to being in awe of all of the methods out there for creating flowers, I am also continually in awe of all of the things that you can create with folded hearts.

I had a lot of fun with folded hearts for St. Patrick's Day shamrocks and am now excited to give these heart flowers a try. You can customize this concept with any size heart and any number of petals. I am not a big advocate of buying lots of expensive scrapbook supplies. I write these articles to inspire people, not to push products.

However, there are some projects where one or two tools make a difference. This is one of those projects. A heart punch will be well worth the money. Who Needs A Recipe Anyhow, Pair a large umbrella with it as this card features and/or include raindrops and flowers. There are a lots of fun possibilities here.

This is yet another card with a lot of dimension. Take note of the different textures and patterns and think about how you can use these techniques in your own card making to give your cards a lot of character. I had to return to chicks and buttons one more time.

Of course I also love the polka dots here. Offsetting the chick picture with another scalloped rectangle set at a different angle is a great touch, as are the sweet little pink bows. The author does link to the chick picture she used, which is available for purchase. There are lots of similar images to print out there as well as stamps. As I mentioned in the beginning of this article, it is very easy to take a classic spring concept such as flowers for a specific occasion during the season, such as sending thank you notes.
