How To Make Sage Oil

Get a bunch of sage leaves. If you wish to make sage oil then use sage leaves, or use clary sage leaves to make clary sage oil. You will also need a spoon or grinder to crush the leaves. A plastic strainer or cheesecloth can be used to strain the oil. You will also need a large amber or green colored glass jar to store the carrier oil, and small amber colored glass bottles to store the sage oil.
So, gather all the ingredients necessary for this recipe and follow these steps.- The first step is to get the sage plant leaves. You can buy sage leaves from any vegetable market or get it from a herbal store. Wash the leaves clean and let them air dry. If you can't find fresh leaves you can also use dry leaves.
Once the leaves have dried completely, start crushing them. You can crush the leaves with a spoon or in a grinder. Or you can simply break the leaves in small pieces with your hands. Then take a large glass bottle with a big mouth, as it allows you remove leaves in it better.
But, if you have a spare bottle which has a small mouth then it will do too. Also, try to get a glass one which has amber or green colored glass. This will protect the oil from harsh light. Now, start stuffing the crushed sage leaves in the glass jar using a spoon which has a long handle.
Stuff as many leaves as possible. Remember, the more the leaves are in the oil, the stronger the oil will be. So, fill up the leaves in the bottle till the neck. Then start pouring a warm carrier oil in it. Any good carrier oil will do. However, each carrier oil has its own properties so you can choose accordingly.
If you want a light fragrance and color free oil then go with jojoba oil. If you want an affordable oil then choose olive oil. If you wish to use the sage oil for moisturizing and massaging then consider using almond oil as carrier oil. So, keep pouring the oil in the bottle, till it is filled up to the neck.
Now, place a plastic wrap on the mouth of the glass jar and then put a lid on it. Then lightly shake it. Now, it is time to let the oil steep. For this purpose keep the bottle in a dark and warm place. Keep shaking the glass jar lightly every 12 hours. After 3 days take out the bottle and open it. Then strain the oil using a plastic fine strainer or a double folded cheesecloth. If you want you can store the oil in small glass bottles, and carry it with you when you are traveling.
