And Of Course A Cake

how to make
As a follow up to the questions about the ribbon bow that was on my Valentine’s cake. Have I made a tutorial on how to make a ribbon bow for your cake. Remember to prepair your cake for the ribbon, by getting a nice and straight crumb coat -before the fondant cover. A side scraber is a great tool to use for that. And of course a cake.

Measure around the cake and add 1/2″ extra, so that the ribbon can overlap. Cut the lenght of ribbon that you will be needing. Brush a thin coat of piping gel around the base of the cake. Let the piping gel dry until just slightly tacky. Add the ribbon around the cake and make sure that it is all smooth. Brush a little piping gel on one of the ribbon ends and “close” by overlapping. Note: I prefere to have the overlap at the “back” of the cake.

Find out how big you want the bow loops to be and cut a piece of ribbon in the desired lenght. Place a small piece of double sided tape in the center and fold in the ribbons. Add another piece of double sided tape in the center of the bow. Cut a small piece of ribbon just long enough to go around the middle of the bow.

Fold in the ends nicely. Fasten the ribbon bow at the front of the cake with a small piece of double sided tape and you’re done. If you want to make a double bow. Just cut an extra piece of ribbon at step 4 Make sure that it is a little longer than the first piece of ribbon.

This is critical step to really understanding their business needs and ultimately closing the deal. If you’re listening and asking the right questions, you can adjust your sales message to one that sounds really attractive to the buyer. If your pitch goes well and you have your ears open, it should feel less like a business presentation and more like a healthy conversation about their business needs.

Even though listening to your buyer is critical - don’t just pack up after your pitch, shrug your shoulders and wait for the customer to define the next steps. Every sales pitch should end with a call to action that makes sense. Even if the customer isn’t ready to complete the sale yet, be sure to keep the prospect on the journey and move forward with a follow-up meeting or a trial period.

Never wait for the customer to make the call to action. This is solely the salesperson’s responsibility, and failing to be proactive could result in the meeting or relationship ending before you have met your purpose for coming. Ok, this isn't really a step, but more a a head start for your next pitches. Ask current customers that you have a healthy relationship with for referrals to other potential prospects. Referrals are more likely to complete a sale than any other method, and generally a customer who is happy with your service will be happy to spread the word.

Congratulations, you’ve gotten to the point of bringing a prospective buyer into the same room to hear your pitch, so don’t go into the presentation under-prepared. It’s no easy feat to get in front of a potential customer, so don’t waste their time and yours with a long-winded, boring sales pitch that isn't relevant and says little to nothing at all. So, keep the pitch on-message, keep it clear and you'll keep your buyer's attention. Review it repeatedly and trim excess until it’s as concise as possible without losing the intent.

Spring is in the air, and I totally feel nature inspired, so in this tutorial, I will teach you how to make your own gem tree - it’s easy! We will use the pebble as a base for our gem tree. To get a clearer idea of the size of the pebble, its dimensions are 5x4cm, but you can really use any size you would like. You can either use a river pebble, or a decorative pebble such as the ones sold in stores.

Next, we take the wire, and with the cutter pliers we cut 5 pieces with approximately 20cm length each. I’m not sure what gauge is this wire, but generally we need a thicker wire which is neither too soft, nor too hard. If the wire is too soft, the gem tree will be unstable and easily damaged, and if it’s too hard, the wire will be difficult to work with.
