And Now, My Coup De Gras

how to make
Finally, blogger is working again and I can tell you all about last weekend. Saturday morning we were pretty hung over from saying good-bye to Wayne so we woke up late. We decided something easy was a good idea. So we took the bus and the metro to Jagalchi market.

Jagalchi market is a huge fish market in downtown Busan. It's like a big festival down there, next to all the creepy crawlies. Luckily, even when hung over I have a particularly strong stomach. He's a feisty octopus, he'll probably taste great! Meh, those don't look too great, put em back!

We didn't buy any fish that day, not only do we not know how to prepare it, we had a 1.5 hour ride back to be carrying around dead fish. We looked around the market some more and walked over to Nampo market area where we found a Pizza Hut to eat dinner at (OMG!! Cheese!!!), too bad we practically had to sell our unborn children to buy said Pizza.

Real american food is super expensive here. If you're on a budget when you come to Korea, stick to Korean food. I spotted this awesomeness while we were shopping through street venders. I need to figure out how much it is going to cost to mail packages back to the US. If it's not too bad, all my friends having baby's are going to get one of these adorable things for their future darling children. Don't you want an adorable Korean outfit for your baby,

Ok, back on topic. Sunday we went to Bulguksa temple, and shrine. It was VERY crowded (due to Buddha's birthday being on Tuesday, I assume). And now, my coup de gras. My video of the Seokguram grotto. There were signs that said No Cameras, so I used video instead. But I had to be subtle because as soon as the guard saw a camera he started shouting "No Camera, No Camera!" I was filming, but there was a Korean guy behind me flashing away with his camera. Finally, the guard realized it was a Korean taking pictures, not those crazy Me-gooks, and he started yelling in Korean instead. There's a gem in the middle of Buddha's forehead that you can't see in the video.

Edinburgh Rocks sound tempting, especially with the lemon and peppermint essences. I'm not sweet on sweets, but I look forward to sampling these sweets one day. Well presented and interesting. Peter Hoggan, It's so interesting to read the history behind such an exquisite dessert. Edinburgh Rock provides such a unique taste experience what with "Sweetie Sandy's" clever combination of cream of tartar, lemon and peppermint! Additionally, I love your choice of opening photo which looks (and undoubtedly tastes) like more. A recipe to make my dentist richer and happier.

I enjoy the story and the recipe because I never heard of Endinburgh Rock Candy. The people I know who travel to Scotland are spinners and weavers. They travel there, take tours of the fiber factories, and bring home anything related to spinning or weaving. No candy for me. Voted up and everything else. I remember as a child my grandmother would go home to Scotland and when she'd return she would bring rock candy back with her. I'm not sure if it was this exact type but I do remember the candy.

The results will be announced in a post on this blog on 31st December. On Christmas Eve I published the results of nominations in the FOUR different categories of the Best Picture on an Art Blog Award in FOUR separate posts. I then selected two works myself. The aim here is to give a balanced range of artwork to vote for in the Poll - with the criteria varying per category (e.g. media used, nationality of art blogger).

I've also tried to reflect the artwork I've enjoyed during the year. I've listed all four nominations in each category below. Please note: LOBBYING IS NOT ALLOWED. However a selected artist can a link to this post on their own blog and explain how to vote - in a post of their own blog.

Others can feel free to share a link to this vote if you want to encourage people to look at the options generally - but please do NOT tell people to vote for anybody specific. I've had to eliminate an entry from the poll in the past for votes being distorted by lobbying. Vote for the artwork you like the best not the person you like the best! 1. You have one vote for each category - so make sure you get the result right first time as you'll be blocked from changing your vote.
