How To Make CakePops! Updated on August 25, 2013 Mary Hyatt moreContact Author Let’s make CakePops! I’ll show you how to make Tigers and Puppy Dogs. There are many more animals you can make using this method, but for now we’ll just make Tigers and Puppy Dogs. These adorable little CakePops are all the rage now. I’m always late jumping on present day bandwagons, but I just want to share how to make these little guys. My daughter showed me photos of some of these she made for a child’s Birthday party. She made Tigers, Monkeys and Puppy Dogs. I just fell in love with them!I begged her to show me how to make these. These instructions will yield 18 of little animals. I think you will find them irresistible, too. This project will take two people to make everything run smooth. As one person dips the CakePops, another person should be standing by to attach the eyes, nose and mouths. It is time consuming, but I have to say we had a fun afternoon, shopping for these and making them. If you want to stand the CakePops upright, you will need a Styrofoam block to stand them in to dry and to work on them.
We preferred to place each one in a wax paper lined cookie sheet “on their heads”. They are more stable that way to transport or display. You can also place each CakePop in it’s own separate plastic bag and tie a ribbon around the top for a special occasion. We were going to use the ones we made for a Birthday party, so we just arranged ours on a serving tray. They were “the hit of the party”. After you have made the balls and have them on the tray, place them in the refrigerator or freezer for at least two hours.
You want them to be very firm before dipping them in the warm melted chocolate. 1 bag of black for the Tiger Stripes. 1 package of Popsicle sticks. Then, we went to the grocery store to buy: 1 box of yellow cake mix, and 1 container of Pillsbury’s Creamy Supreme Classic White Frosting. You could use any flavor cake mix you like. 1 bag of Reece’s Pieces for the animal’s ears and nose. Chcolate Morsels if you like for the ears on the dogs. You’ll need: About a Tablespoon of Crisco to add to the melted chocolate to make it smooth.
